So stoked you’re here! I’m Jessica

I always wanted to create. I was an art kid growing up. I went to college for architecture, but found it was the love of creating art for art’s sake that led me to photography. I love painting, drawing cartoons, film, nature, travel. We spent a lot of summers in the UP growing up, and jumping in the car to “go for a ride” was a thing in our family that kind of just stuck with me. Now I’m oftentimes skipping flying and driving out West or to Arkansas just because.
Born and raised in West Michigan, I get antsy when the long winters settle in. I lived in Puerto Rico for several years, Arkansas for a year, and spend a lot of time in Arizona. I’m almost deaf in my right ear. My music playlist is a hot mess. I home school my 13 & 14 year old, and we spend most of our spring/summer/fall outside.

Some of my favorite things

  • Any and all pizza, and potatoes

  • My orange cat Carl. There’s a tattoo of him in a cowboy hat mixed into my sleeve, he’s the coolest

  • Vintage t-shirts & denim

  • Summer bonfires and sunsets

  • Peach whiskey or Prosecco

  • Out West

  • Polaroids

  • Summer days at the beach

  • Breakfast for dinner

  • Mountain Bikes

  • Traveling

  • Farm house front porches

  • Thunderstorms

My love of wedding photography

I love storytelling portraits and approaching things with a photojournalistic viewpoint. Documenting not just big picture, but those small details and in between moments. I want my work to feel natural, familiar, fun, and I love good candid. I prefer a little messy, full of emotion, movement and real life and stay away from stiff posing. I strive to get to know you before documenting you so I can do so that feels truthful and real when looking at your wedding story.

That’s the whole point of wedding photography to me- creating magic, of course, but creating magic and romance and art out of the wedding day moments, connection and memories from your day-not a mile long list of Pinterest photos. I want you to remember the way Grandma looked at you from the doorway, the way your dad tried REAL hard to hold it together through his speech, the moments just after the ceremony when everyone was hugging and laughing, all of the toasts and the plates on the tables from all of your friends and family coming to celebrate you.

If you think we’d be a good fit and would like to create something together, please send me an email or click the contact tab below so we can set up a time to meet or chat via phone!
